Acting Deputy Regional Manager for the Northeast District Readjustment Counseling Service – Vet Center Program

Alice Ford is the Acting Deputy Regional Manager for the Northeast District Readjustment Counseling Service – Vet Center Program. She started her career with Veterans Affairs as a Military Sexual Trauma Counselor and later became a Team Leader before moving into the Regional Manager Office as the Associate Regional Manager for Counseling.

Mrs. Ford served more than three years in the US Army where she was a trained Flight Operations Specialist and Radio Telephone Operator. After achieving the rank of Sergeant and leaving the military, Mrs. Ford continued to provide services to the military community as she accompanied her husband, an Army officer, to various assignments in the United States and Germany. For example, she worked in the Army Alcohol Treatment Facility in Germany and as a Family Counselor in Savannah, Georgia where she provided counseling to women and families that included members of the military and Veteran community.

Outreach to unreached communities and to women veterans is a focus for Mrs. Ford due to the significant challenges this group routinely faces. Since joining the Vet Center program, Mrs. Ford has acted as a liaison on Women Veterans issues; served as a member of the Women Veterans Working Group and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center Women Committee. She has also spoken at the Delaware Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Vet Center Women Recognition Program, organized a Women Veterans Fair, and written articles concerning Women Veterans issues.

Mrs. Ford earned a Masters of Social Work and a Bachelor of Social Work from Michigan State University; she also earned a Bachelor of Arts from Columbus State University. Mrs. Ford lives in Northern Virginia and enjoys spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren.
